CIDG nabs 6 for playing ‘sakla’ in Pampanga

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 3 (CIDG3), arrested six persons caught in the act of playing “sakla,” a table card betting game in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Magalang, Pampanga last Tuesday night.

Col. Edwin Balles, CIDG3 regional officer, said the arrest of the suspects for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 was part of Oplan Bolilyo of the CIDG.

Balles identified the arrested persons as Merlou Manabat, 20; Marvin Manabat, 37; Marcelino Geronimo, 36; Roger Hipolito, 18; Efraim Pangilinan, 31; and Mark Anthony Suliao, 29.

Bet money amounting to P1,160, a wooden board intended for sakla and a deck of playing cards were confiscated.

The arrested suspects are facing charges for illegal gambling.

Meanwhile, the CIDG-Pampanga, along with Tarlac and Pampanga police, arrested one of the most wanted persons of Mexico town during the serving of a warrant in Barangay Dau, Mabqalacat City also last Tuesday.

Balles identified the arrested suspect as Romer Rillera, 36, resident of Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City, who is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the RTC Branch 67 of Paniqui, Tarlac for robbery under Criminal Case no. 276-15 with P100,000 bail recommended.

Rillera’s companion identified as Mark Anthony Evangelista, 41, also from Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City, was also arrested after operatives found four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one wrapped paper containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, and one Toyota Revo Tamaraw FX with plate number WME 126.

The suspects are facing drug charges.

The CIDG-Pampanga said the arrested suspects “are identified members of un-named criminal group reported by this office under IR no. 2021-02-001 involved in robbery-holdup, drug peddling and other illegal activities operating in Pampanga and adjacent provinces.
