CIDG nabs Arayat bgy. chief for guns

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Government operatives led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Pampanga arrested last January 11 the barangay captain of San Juan Baño in Arayat, Pampanga for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Col. Amante Daro, CIDG-Region 3 officer, said arrested was Barangay Capt. Froilan Soriano, 41, resident of Purok 6 in the said barangay.

Detectives of CIDG-Pampanga, along with Arayat town police, PIU, SWAT, Bataan MARPSTA and 2PMFC Pampanga PPO implemented Search Warrant No. 2020-02 issued by Judge Raymond Viray of Olongapo City RTC Branch 75 against Soriano for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591.

Operatives seized a M16A1 rifle with serial no. RP134762 with magazine assembly and 27 live ammunition for cal. 5.56 and a cal. .45 Para Ordnance pistol with magazine assembly containing seven rounds of live ammunition.

Daro said Soriano is the alleged leader of a gun-for-hire group operating in Pampanga as reported under CIDG File No. PFUPamp-2020-01-001.

The arrested suspect is presently detained at CIDG Pampanga for documentation and disposition.

Meanwhile, CIDG-Tarlac operatives arrested last Monday one Marlon Tacubanza, 20, in Bgy. Balingcanaway, Tarlac City for alleged rape.

Joint Detectives of CIDG- Tarlac and Tarlac City police arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Joefferson Toribio, of the Tarlac City Family Court Branch 11 for the crime of rape under Criminal Case No.11295-2020 with no bail recommended.
