SHAQ Delos Santos was officially appointed as Cignal HD’s first head coach in the Premier Volleyball League, the club announced through its social media accounts yesterday.
The HD Spikers’ maiden stint in the now-pro league will give an opportunity for Delos Santos to atone himself after a winless stint as a national team women’s mentor in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in December 2019.
Cignal is one of the five new teams in the PVL along with PLDT Home Fibr, Sta, Lucia, Chery Tiggo and F2 Logistics.
Rachel Anne Daquis will banner the HD Spikers along with Fil-Am playmaker Alohi Robins-Hardy, Fiola Ceballos, Ranya Musa, Roselyn Doria Janine Marciano, May Luna and libero Jheck Dionela.
Cignal’s only major acquisition so far was former University of the Philippines standout Ayel Estrañero.
The PVL is eyeing to start the Open Conference on May 8 in a tightly controlled bubble.
