LUCENA CITY — Police operatives on Friday raided a gambiling den resulting to the arrest of a lady “cabo” (supervisor) and seizure of bet money and various gambling paraphernalia at Purok Sta. Teresa, Brgy. Dalahican, here.

City police chief Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea identified the arrested suspect as Amalia Pancho, 59, of said place.

Albacea said Pancho was caught red- handed with pieces of evidence when police operatives barged into a house where the alleged bookie operation was reported to be in progress.

Sensing the arrival of policemen, Albacea said a number of cobradores (collectors) in the house managed to flee with undetermined amount of bet money, leaving Pancho behind.

Following the confiscation of the remaining pieces of evidence, policemen accosted the suspect and was brought to police station.

When asked by probers about the identity of those behind the bookie operation, Pancho refused to speak.

But it was learned from sources that the bookie operation in this village and some parts of this city is being operated by a certain Batang of the “F4 Gang”, a notorious group engaged in jueteng and bookie operation whose leader is a certain Armi.

The operation of STL in Quezon under Pirouette Corporation had resumed last October 1 amid the fast- increasing number of confirmed coronavirus desease (COVID- 19) cases.

But shortly upon the STL resumption, F4 immediately started its illegal operation using STL as its front.
