POPULAR actor Coco Martin is the newest face of the city of Manila’s vaccination information campaign.

Mayor Isko Moreno said Martin agreed to join him in a video info drive for free and did not event think twice, saying he only wanted to be of service to the public.

Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna have been actively drumming up awareness on the benefits of getting vaccinated and enjoining the city residents to avail of the free vaccines being offered by the government, in an effort to help create herd immunity.

The 50-second video begins with Moreno giving a message: “Ang bakuna ay simbolo ng pag-asa..pag-asang maproteksyunan sa sakit ang ating mga mahal sa buhay.”

This is followed by testimonials coming from a public utility driver and a member of an educational institution both hinging their hopes for the future on the promise of a semblance of normalcy via getting vaccinated. Martin then appears.

“Huwag nang matakot, nandito na ang solusyon. Magpabakuna, para malabanan natin ang pandemya. Tulong-tulong tayo mga Pilipino. Kaya natin ‘to!,” he says. Moreno then caps the video with the line “Para makabalik sa normal, kailangan ng bakuna. Vaccination ang solusyon.”

The words, “Vaccine Nation is the Solution” then appear onscreen. It had been the battlecry of Moreno and Lacuna even before the vaccines began arriving in the country.

Moreno thanked Martin for his support and willingness to do public service by lending his popularity and massive influence to the city government’s efforts to encourage its residents to get vaccinated.

It will be recalled that before the onset of New Year’s eve, the city government launched its online pre-registration for residents who want to avail of the free vaccination. This was followed by a series of simulation exercises of the vaccination processes, led by Moreno himself, Lacuna and Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’ Pangan and the directors of the city-run hospitals.

It is largely due to these exercises that the current vaccination rollout being done by the city government are smooth and hassle-free.

Moreno, the first mayor to have been jabbed in the country, said the vaccine may not bring immunity but it will at least provide the vaccinees protection from landing in the severe category in case they contract the coronavirus.

Once again, he called on the residents to register at www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph if they want to get jabbed.
