Comelec Imus praised for protocols vs COVID

IMUS CITY, Cavite — The City Comelec Office has received praises from different sectors and government agencies for its health protocols to stop the spread of of the coronavirus disease.

Imus City Election Officer explained Jasmin Gilera said that since September 1, 2020. all staffers have been wearinf Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs), gloves and Lapel microphone/speaker while dealing with the public.

All walk-in applicants have also been required to wear face masks and shields.

Comelec Imus also uses plastic barriers to avoid face-to-face contact with clients.

Each registrant is asked to fill up a health declaration slip, undergo body temperature check and wash their hands.

Senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and pregnant women have special lanes and receive special assistance from the election agency.

“Sabi ko sa mga staff ko, kailangan nating mag-ingat kasi kapag nagka-COVID -19 ka, hindi ka sasagutin ng gobyerno, kaya super ingat tayo,” Gilera said in an interview.

“Kapag mabilis magsulat, around 10-15 minutes tapos kana mag-register,” Gilera added.

Comelec registration here is open from 8 a.m. to 3 .m. Tuesday to Saturday and will end on September 30, 2021.

Imus City had 183,094 registered voters in the May 2019 midterm and local elections.

The city has an additional 2185 new voters based on the 1st and 2nd quarter evaluation of the office and around 2,161 new registrants from 97 villages subject for evaluation on October.
