THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) threw out a petition seeking to disqualify from the recently-concluded midterm polls now incoming Senator and former ACT CIS partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo.

It was learned from Comelec Chairman George Garcia that the Comelec en banc issued a seven-page resolution dated June 5, 2025, junking a motion for reconsideration filed by a former lawyer and the Graft-free Philippines Foundation Inc., for lack of merit.

“The Commission En Banc finds it unnecessary to discuss the same, considering that no merit has been found in any of the arguments raised in this Motion for Reconsideration,” part of the resolution said.

It will be recalled that the Comelec also previously dismissed a petition citing the alleged US citizenship of Tulfo and the alleged violation of equal access to opportunities in public service as grounds for disqualification.
