Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia announced that the Special Register Anywhere Program (SRAP) for the 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) ended on Thursday.
Garcia said they plan to expand the SRAP and bring it to more remote areas in the different parts of the country.
“We will launch the SRAP nationwide. We will bring it even [to] Marawi City and Iligan City. We will also hold it in cities, highly urbanized and component cities, because it is necessary,” said Garcia, when he personally visited the SRAP at the head office of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The SRAP was held by the Comelec from August 1 to 7, for the purpose of enticing more voters to register for the BSKE. The ten-day voter registration for the BSKE is slated to end on August 10.
Garcia said that if the holding of the said elections will be moved next year, the Comelec will again hold a voter registration on the third week of October up to July 2026.
The 2025 BSKE is scheduled to be held on December 1, 2025 but it may done in November 2026 if the proposal to move it is approved.
