Coordination meeting held between BOC-NAIA and Homeland Security

A coordination meeting was held by the Bureau of Customs – Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the United States Department of Homeland Security and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the NAIA in Pasay City, as part of the BOC’s commitment to improve collaboration with other enforcement agencies.

Various BOC-NAIA officials headed by District Collector Carmelita Talusan were in attendance during the meeting, along with Deputy Task Group Commander Gerald Javier who led the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents.

Deputy Attaché Conan Smith, Asst. Attaché Roldan Vasquez, Asst. Attaché Pedro Delgado and Foreign Service National Investigator Evangeline Morales represented the US Homeland Security.

The issues discussed during the meeting included the border security efforts and concerns of the Port and strengthened collaboration between other agencies against the entry of illegal goods into the country.

The US Homeland Security representatives, BOC-NAIA officials and PDEA agents also visited the BOC-NAIA Exhibit Hall which archives various interceptions of the Port.

District Collector Carmelita Talusan assured that the Port would continue to strengthen partnerships with other enforcement agencies to combat the smuggling of illegal goods in the country.

“The BOC – Port of NAIA, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Felimon Ruiz, will remain at the forefront of border security and improve international cooperation aligned with the reforms of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ,” she said.
