Cop caught sniffing shabu arrested

A Manila policeman was arrested after being caught in the act of sniffing shabu during a buy-bust operation Tuesday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police deputy chief for administration Supt. Ferdie Del Rosario identified the erring policeman as PO2 Ronaldo Macayan, 48, assigned at the Manila Police District (MPD) and resident of 100 Heroes Del 96, Bgy. 73.

Earlier at around 1:15 p.m., elements of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by Senior Insp. John Chua conducted a buy-bust operation against Julius Villarosa and one alias “Digo” along Heroes Del 96.

When alias Digo received the P300 marked money from the undercover cop who acted as poseur-buyer in exchange for plastic sachet of shabu, the police decoy gave the pre-arranged signal but the suspects, who noticed the presence of policemen immediately ran inside a suspected drug den, prompting the police to give chase.

When operatives barged into a house, they caught Macayan in the act of sniffing shabu that resulted in his arrest.

However, Digo managed to escape, bringing along with him the buy-bust money while Villarosa was collared after a brief chase.

Police recovered at the area a small plastic sachet of shabu and several pieces of drug paraphernalia.
