Cop lauded for arresting robber

QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Danilo P. Macerin lauded his policeman who was able to arrest a robbery suspect on Monday in Marikina City.

Macerin said PCpl. Benjie Bautista, a police officer assigned at the Cubao Police Station (PS 7), was on his way to report for duty at PS 7 at about 5 a.m. of December 28, 2020 when he heard victim Gemma Melchor, 34, resident of Brgy. Sto Niño, Marikina City, shouting and asking for help after her sling bag with cash insuide was forcibly taken.

Bautista responded immediately and cornered the suspect who was identified as Jayson Estoque, 27, a resident of Marikina City.

Bautista asked Estoque to return the sling bag and surrender but the latter ran. After a brief chase, Estoque was cornered and was arrested on Daang Bakal St. Brgy. Sto. Niño, Marikina City.

The victim positively identified Estoque as the one who took her sling bag.

Recovered from the suspect were a brown sling bag, a Realme smart phone and P550 in cash.

Macerin applauded the alertness of the policeman and his dedication to his sworn duties and responsibilities as a police officer.

Ang inyong kapulisan ay handang tumulong sa kahit anong paraan na aming makakaya kahit pa buhay na namin ang nakataya. He was given an incentive and will be given an appropriate award for the bravery he has shown,” he added.

This is in line with the reiteration of Chief Philippine National, PGEN Debold M Sinas, during his assumption that those who will show good deeds will be rewarded.
