PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Debold M. Sinas yesterday announced the arrest of three ranking members of the communist New People’s Army following separate operations in the countryside.

He identified the suspects who are all wanted by the court to stand trial for criminal cases as Ruffa Baynosa,44; Amito Aballe,37; and Rey Miguel Busania,38.

“The warrants of arrest were issued against wanted CPP-NPA-NDF personalities and is pursuant to Executive Order No. 70 creating the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict,” the PNP chief said.

According to Sinas, Baynosa was arrested on Thursday noon inside Hacienda Ambulong in Barangay San Fernando, Talisay City in Negros Occidental by local policemen armed with a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued against the suspect by Judge Ma. Rita Saraba of the San Carlos City Regional Trial Court Branch 58.

A Periodic Status Report of CPP-NPA-NDF personalities in the region identified Baynosa as a medical officer of Platoon Sandatahang Yunit of the NPA’s Northern Negros Front operating in the areas of Calatrava and Toboso municipalities.

On the other hand, Aballe alias ‘Tomsky’ was served a warrant of arrest for double murder and multiple attempted murder issued against him by Judge Maria Chona Pulgar-Navarro of the Calauag, Quezon RTC Branch 63.

The warrant was served against the suspect inside his cell at the San Francisco Municipal Police Station where he is currently being held.

Busania meanwhile was served a warrant of arrest for direct assault, murder with multiple frustrated murder, serious illegal detention, robbery and carnapping issued against him by a local court inside the Santiago City Jail.

The suspect is known for his aliases ‘Ka Jonas/Ka Rey/Ka Ulog/Ka Daril/Ka Roxies/Ka Hajin/Ka Dap/Ka Dapne,’ police said.

Sinas said that from January to last December 20, police arrested 433 wanted CPP-NPA-NDF personalities while 3,155 others voluntarily surrendered to avail of the government’s comprehensive livelihood package which will enable them to return to the mainstream of the society.

“Those who were arrested must be held liable for the crimes that they have committed against the state and various individuals,” said the PNP chief.
