AUTHORITIES seized  chemicals and equipment for manufacturing shabu following a raid on a suspected shabu laboratory inside an exclusive subdivision in North Greenhills, San Juan City, yesterday morning.

In a report submitted to Eastern Police District  EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba by San Juan police chief Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, no one was arrested during the raid, but according to the house owner’s secretary,  who refused to be identified, one Philip Jacob Bana Nocum was reported to have rented the house.

Reyes led a composite  team of Station Drug Enforecement Unit headed by Senior Insp. Edwin Malabanan, PCP 1 commander Chief Insp. Edgar Escreza, District Intelligence Unit  along with members of Intelligence Group when they swooped down on the house in North Greenhills at around 7:30 a.m.

The raid was based on a search warrant issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court ( RTC) Branch 152 Judge Danilo Cruz for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

According to Reyes, the raiding team found a chemical shabu mixer and other shabu-making equipment  at the two-storey house rented by Nocum since August for P120,000 monthly. Nocum reportedly paid P960,000 in advancerentals for eight months.

“Nahanap n’ya itong bahay na ito na pinarerentahan thru online, ang kontrata n’ya sa may-ari ay one year rental at bayad s’ya for eight months simula nu’ng August,” the secretary told the media.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Guillermo Eleazar said shabu residues recovered from the laboratory showed that the drug syndicate had been conducting a big-time operation.

The laboratory reportedly can produce 30 kilos of shabu per week or about P90 million worth of wholesale drugs.

A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team recovered sacks of off-white powder, acetone and   multiple gallon containers and an unknown liquid.

Police also seized several sacks and boxes with Chinese characters.

Reyes added the raid was carried out following the arrest of Kim Jeong Hee, along with his Filipino cohort, Marvin Yu, during a series of raids on November 28, which yielded several gallons of chemicals and equipment which can produce P2.2 billion worth of illegal drugs loaded in a Toyota Grandia (ZRF-504) owned by Kim parked at J3N3 parking lot on Garnet Road, Bgy. San Antonio, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

On November 29, police conducted another raid at  the condo unit of Kim and seized suspected shabu and chemicals amounting to P13.6 millon  in  Greenhills, San Juan City.

Eleazar said they are now tracing the occupant of the suspected shabu lab.
