THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced that it now has in its custody three suspects in the kidnap-slay of two victims last June 10 in Baesa, Quezon City. They consists of a Correction Officer, an ex-Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and an employee.
First nabbed on July 11 and 12 were ex-PDL Raymond David Reyes and Correction Officer I Pio Jonathan Aniero Eulalio, followed by Vergel Burata Olanda, employee of victims Christian Razon Ortega and sister Gloria Razon Ortega, who are now in the custody of the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group. The victims were found in a muddy are in Talahiban, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Bay, Laguna on July 12.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the arrest was the result of a continuing work by the National Bureau of Investigation-Homicide Division (NBI-HD), the NBI-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) and the NBI-Public Corruption Division (NBI-PCD).
It was learned that Olanda suggested to have the victims abducted when he got jailed in Quezon City Jail. It was learned that two more planned with him and their identities are yet to be revealed.
Santiago said that at 2:45 a.m. on June 10,2024, the victims were on board an L399 van and were cruising along L.R.Pascual St.,Barangay Baesa,Quezon City when, upon reaching Lucas R.Paacual Memorial Elementary School, their path was blocked by a black Fortuner.
Christian tried to back up but was met by shots, killing him instantly. Gloria was abducted and the P100,000 cash she had and was bringing to Pampanga, Tagaytay and Laguna, was taken.
Later on, the suspects demanded a P5 million ransom and when the money did not arrive on time, the victim was killed and thrown beside a private property owned by Eulalio who happens to be their Officer-in-Charge.
The suspects were traced during a probe on Olanda who feigned innocence at first, until he decided to give the information to the NBI.
Charges of robbery with homicide and kidnapping for ransom have been filed against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office.
