Couple butchered in Pangasinan

A COUPLE was found brutally murdered in a nipa hut in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

Bugallon Police Station chief Maj. Noel Cabacungan identified the victims as Obaldo Rodrigo, 54, and wife Wilma, 58, both natives of Bicaol, Albay.

The couple were caretakers of a land owned by a businessman at Sitio Oling, Bgy. Hacienda in Bugallon town.

Pascasio Salamat, a loader operator, discovered the victims’ bodies.

Salamat went to the couple’s nipa hut to have coffee when he was shocked to see the Rodrigos bloodied and dead.

He immediately called the police.

The Rodrigos sustained multiple hack wounds in the head and body.

Cabacungan said Salamat found Wilma inside the nipa hut.

Obaldo’s body was discovered 20 meters away from the shanty.

Authorities failed to find the bolo used in the gruesome murder.

The Bugallon police sought the help of the Scene of the Crime operatives to process the crime scene and search for evidence that would help them solve the killing. By Jane Eleda
