CV drug dealer nabbed in Cebu

AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) early morning yesterday arrested a 56-year old wanted female drug personality in Central Visayas during an operation in Cebu City, a report to PNP chief, General Debold M. Sinas said.

PNP-DEG director, Brigadier Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the accused as Eva Talon alias ‘Bebot,’ the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Annalou Fernandez-Cavada of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 57 last March 9.

Section 11 of RA 9165 refers to possession of dangerous drugs which carries the maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million upon conviction.

A P200,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect, the official said.

According to Lee, members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 5 headed by Lieutenant Colonel Warren Dabol, assisted by officers from the Cebu City Police Station 2arrested the suspect in her residence in Sitio Damayan is Barangay Tutay in Pinamungahan, Cebu City 2:40 a.m. yesterday.

The PNP-DEG director said the suspect is a known member of the Bella Drug Group operating in Cebu City and other parts of Cebu province. The syndicate is said to be headed by a relative of the accused identified as Kigwa Bella.

Lee said some members of the ring have already been neutralized in previous anti-illegal drug operations in the city.

The suspect is now being held at the Cebu City Police Station 2 pending her presentation to court.
