Danao to rogue Metro Manila cops: Leave!

NEWLY-INSTALLED National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, Brigadier General Vicente D. Danao Jr. yesterday warned rogue members of the Metro Manila police force to mend their ways or suffer the consequence.

Shortly after assuming the top NCRPO post vice newly-designated Philippine National Police chief, General Debold M. Sinas, the member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991 gave a stern warning to rogues in the metropolitan police force specifically those engaged in illegal drug activities.

Danao said he would immediately implement his “Oplan: Litis” among rogue police officers. “This has been my program since day one that I became commander at my own level. Oplan Litis means litisin ang tiwalag at scalawag na miyembro ng hanay ng ating kauplisan. I will be very strict on that,” the new NCRPO chief said.

Danao is no stranger to Metro Manila since he used to be a Manila Police District director.

“I expect all members of the Philippine National Police, especially here in NCRPO, would tow the line. Nakikiusap ako sa inyo, let us put a stop especially on the anti-illegal drugs. Kung mayroon mang paisa-isa pa sa inyo na medyo nawawalay ng landas, ngayon pa lang sinasabihan ko na kayo, the door is always open for you to leave,” said the official.

Danao advised cops to always remember President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs as well as the efforts against criminality and corruption.

“We can only do that with devotion and hard work towards our sworn duty which is to serve and protect our community,” he said. “I would rather believe that the discipline is properly embedded in the hearts and minds of our people here in NCRPO,” he added.

Under his term, Danao said he wants a stepped-up police visibility in Metro Manila to ensure the protection of the public from criminals and other lawless elements.

“Let us flag the streets of Metro Manila with policemen in order to ensure the safety and security of our constituents. We can only do that if we will properly account our personnel,” he said.
