CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – A certain Kalid Andalani Kalaing alyas ‘Kumander Kalid’, sub-leader of Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) Maguid Group, was arrested during a joint military and police checkpoint at Brgy. Labu Labu, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao on August 11, 2021.
Lieutenant Colonel Cresencio Sanchez, Commanding Officer of 1st Mechanized Battalion disclosed that the terrorist sub-leader was arrested by virtue of a standing warrant of arrest CC# 19-5041 for Carnapping with Homicide issued by Presiding Judge Lorenzo F Balo of Branch 19, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on June 13, 2019. He further explained that the arrested terrorist sub-leader was plying along the national highway from Cotabato City going to Isulan, Sultan Kudarat onboard a Toyota Pickup when the government security forces identified him and executed his arrest.
“This achievement only shows that the government security forces are always on the move to hunt down and go after these terrorist groups,” said Colonel Pedro Balisi, the Commander of 1st Mechanized Brigade, citing that the arrest has thwarted said DI sub-leader to further attack peaceful communities and the possible loss of innocent lives.
Major General Juvymax R. Uy, Commander of Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division lauded the accomplishment of the 1st Mechanized Battalion for their proactive efforts in tracking down said terrorist sub-leader. “I strongly warn the remaining violent extremists who are still on the run that the government will not stop until all of you are arrested or neutralized. At the same time, I also would like to offer a better way of living a peaceful life with your families by surrendering to the government. We have enough programs that will help all of you have a peaceful and sustainable life if you opt to return to the folds of the law,” Maj. Gen. Uy further said.
The arrested DI sub-leader is now under police custody for proper filing of cases and legal dispositions.
