WITH the rehabilitation of Marawi halfway done, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairman Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario on Wednesday kicked off another three-day inspection on the government-led rebuilding process.
Del Rosario, who also heads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) was briefed by representatives from implementing agencies on the status of their respective projects inside Marawi City’s most affected area or ground zero.
Among the agencies that briefed the housing czar were the Department of Interior and Local Government, the National Housing Authority, Social Housing Finance Corporation and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
DHSUD Undersecretary Zyril Carlos, TFBM Field Office Manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr. and Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra also attended the briefing.
It was Del Rosario’s fourth visit to the Islamic city this year.
On Thursday, the TFBM chief will conduct ocular inspections in several areas, including a permanent shelter project site being implemented by SHFC in Barangay Patani and several Central Material Recovery facilities in Barangay Dulay.
The housing czar will also conduct progress checks on other ongoing projects inside ground zero such as the Marawi Museum, Peace Memorial Park and School of Living Tradition and the Grand Padian Market. He will also inspect rehabilitation works on the Bato Mosque, White Mosque and Masjid Darussalam.
A briefing with Marawi internally displaced persons organized by the Philippine Information Agency will also be held later in the day.
One of the highlights of Del Rosario’s visit this week is the If tar or breaking of fast with Marawi’s traditional leaders to be held on Thursday evening. The Muslim community marked the beginning of Ramadan on April 13.
Del Rosario is an adopted son of the Marawi Sultanate League, led by Sultan Nasser Sampaco.
In his message issued last week, the TFBM chief stressed that DHSUD and the TFBM are one with the entire Muslim community in observing the start of one of Islam’s five pillars, noting that the holy occasion is a time for Filipinos to be reminded on the importance of sacrifice, humility and kindness to all, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
