DENR, police collar serpent eagle seller

TAYABAS CITY — Wildlife officers and police operatives seized an endangered serpent eagle resulting to the arrest of its seller in an entrapment operation in Bgy. Calumlang in this city.

Quezon Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ramil Limpiada identified the arrested suspect as Mac Nester Valencia, 28, delivery rider, and resident of said village.

Limpiada said Valencia was collared by wildlife officers led by Mark Adrian Mijares and Tayabas City Police led by Major Romar Pacis.

Mijares in a phone interview, said the suspect posted on social media his intention to sell the serpent eagle.

It was seen by one of our Deputized Wildlife who immediately coordinated with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office,” said Mijares.

Mijares said the information was relayed by the regional office to Limpiada who immediately ordered an entrapment operation.

Valencia tried to sell the endangered eagle for P13,000. He is detained at the Tayabas City Lock-up Jail.
