DENR Fishnet Trash Traps

In support of the Manila Bay rehabilitation and Enhanced Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Rotary Club of Diliman Heights (RCDH) through its past president Suzzette Lee (center) and Rotary International District (RID) 3780 Governor Ed Ayento (4th from right) unfurls a fish net as its donation to the rehabilitation and program before it is handed to former Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns Benny D. Antiporda (left). The used fish nets will be used to fabricate trash traps (inset) to prevent solid wastes from barangay esteros from draining to bigger water bodies like Manila Bay. The trash traps will be distributed in Barangays Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches Proper, and Capri in Quezon City through Task Force Tayo ang Kalikasan (TF TAK). Also in photo are TF TAK Technical Assistant Roberto Feliciano (3rd from right), members of the RID 3780 and RCDH led by President Jocel Navarro (3rd from left). The handover was held during the celebration of the 21st signing anniversary of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 on Feb. 2, 2022 at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City.
