Depressed father kills family, shoots himself to death

A DEPRESSED husband shot and killed his wife and two children before  shooting  himself in their house Monday afternoon in Parañaque City.

The lifeless body of Manolo Benigno De Leon and his son Miguel Lorenzo, 9, of No. 51 Amethyst St., Green Heights Subdivision, in Bgy. San Isidro, were discovered in the couple’s bedroom with gunshot wounds at around 2 p.m. Manolo’s daughter, Margarita Sofia, 14, was found in the sofa in their living room with bullet wounds in the head and body.

Police said the suspect’s wife Dianne Cristel, an employee of Unilver, apparently tried to escape the rampaging husband, was discovered at the driver’s seat of their Toyota Fortuner in their garage with gunshot wound in the head.

Stay-in house helper Jacky Ogaliso, 52, told Parañaque police chief Col. Rogelio Rosales said that at around 12 noon, he was instructed by the suspect to buy olive oil at the nearby supermarket.

When Ogaliso returned at around 2 p.m., the main gate of the house was closed. He said he knocked several times but no one came to the gate.

When the suspect’s mother-in-law Teresita Matias arrived, she joined Ogaliso on knocking at the gate. When no one answered, they climbed the perimeter fence to enter the house and were shocked to discover the dead victims.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime operatives (SOCO) recovered from the crime scene a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with six bullets.

Paranaque police homicide investigators SSgt. Johnny Margate and SSgt Gerry Mislang said there were no signs of forcible entry and they believed that Manolo killed his family before shooting himself.

Police learned that the suspect suffered depression after he underwent heart bypass operation which led to his dismissal from work. Since then his wife became the bread winner of the family.
