Detainee mauled to death in Binondo

A 40-YEAR-OLD detainee was mauled to death by his fellow detainees at the Manila Police District-Station 11 in Binondo, Manila, Wednesday night.

Pascual Magora, of Martinez Building, Dasmarinas, was declared dead on arrival made at the hospital.

Investigation by P/Master Sergeant Jansen Rey San Pedro of the MPD -homicide section said that detainees Angelo Sy, 28; Joseph Jamindang, 42; Edgardo De Jesus, 48 and Edgar Matadbus, 22 are now being investigated in connection with the incident.

It was learned that at around 7 p.m. , the victim was seen arguing with Sy and later trading punches while inside the male custodial facility, stopping only when a duty jail officer arrived.

At around 10 p.m., the victim had a heated verbal exchange with Jamindang and Matadbus which led to the two beating him up. Moments later, the victim complained of breathing diffulty and was brought to the nearest hospital.

Records show the victim was detained last August 24 for a case of unjust vexation) and alarm and scandal.

The victim will be autopsied to determine the cause of death while the suspects will be subjected to inquest before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
