Digital advocates to BPI: disclose banking mess, secure accounts

A network of digital advocates urged banking giant to disclose if their system has been compromised.

Digital Pinoys national campaigner Ronald Gustilo said that numerous BPI account holders are complaining that they have discovered earlier today that their accounts have unrecognized transactions.

“BPI should inform their customers if their system has been compromised. Everyone is getting worried.”

Some BPI customers have been complaining that their accounts were charged for unrecognized transactions while some are saying that they are being charged again for transactions made during the last holiday.

BPI should immediately fix this problem. They should return all debited transactions and cancel any double transaction without conditions. The customers should not be inconvenienced further.”

Gustilo also said that banks should ensure that their system and their mobile applications should be in top condition 24/7.

“Constantly upgrading security features and implementing user interface improvements in mobile apps should be done by banks to ensure that the hard-earned money entrusted to them is safe and readily accessible to the account owner at any given time.”
