DILG tells LGUs to brace for Ulysses

INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año has warned local chief executives (LCEs) especially in the Bicol Region and areas directly hit by Typhoon “Ulysses” to be always on their respective posts ready and prepared for any eventualities the latest weather disturbance may bring.

In a statement, Año also advised the public to abide by the LGUs preemptive evacuation procedures particularly those living in low-lying areas as Ulysses is expected to make landfall anytime.

As we braved countless storms as a nation, through our cooperation and discipline we can conquer anew. Tandaan po natin na maging sa kalamidad, bida at ligtas and may disiplina,” he added.

Again, the DILG chief warned missing mayors that they would be held accountable for their constituents.

The DILG, together with the rest of the NDRRMC expect the citizens’ participation, cooperation and discipline as we prepare for the advert effect “Ulysses” may bring,” Año said.

LGUs are also directed to establish critical preparedness actions such as prepositioning of supplies, equipment and personnel for immediate response under OPLAN LISTO.

Barangay DRRMCs should be tapped for early warning measures and vigilant monitoring of areas susceptible to flood and storm surges while persistent information dissemination using all media platforms are also encouraged to ensure that the public is updated.
