Doctor bikes to work sans face shield, rapped

THE Cainta Prosecutor’s Office has recommended the filing of formal charges against a doctor who was biking to work when apprehended for not wearing a face shield last Sunday.

Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said the bail was P3,000 per case, or P6,000 for the two cases.

The inquest resolution is for filing of simple disobedience and unjust vexation,” Malcontento said.

The arrest of the unnamed doctor, who was in detention for three nights with supposedly 200 other detainees, went viral on social media.

A joint memorandum circular by the health, transportation, public works, and interior departments has said that cyclists are exempted from the use of face shields.

Reports have it that the doctor protested his apprehension but was still booked for “resisting arrest.

The doctor was supposedly placed in a detention cell with 200 other detainees, who reports showed, some of them exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
