HOPE for cancer and dialysis patients.

This, according to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna’s spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante, is what the lady mayor brings to the said sick residents when she conducts her regular ‘door-to-door doktora’ program sa part of her ‘Kalinga sa Maynila‘ fora which are being held in the barangays.

“For the mayor, the smiles and tears of joy that her presence elicits from our sick residents, specially those who are already bedridden or are senior citizens, are just priceless,” she said.

Abante added that through the said program where Lacuna visits a maximum of ten sick residents in the barangay where the forum was held, the mayor gets to know personally what the patients need or lack and extend help.

“No amount of smear campaign will discourage the mayor from continuing what she had been doing. The fact that there are attempts to dissuade the mayor from pushing through with her programs only goes to prove that we are doing the right thing,” Abante stressed.

She added that the residents whom Lacuna had paid a visit have expressed utmost gratitude and happiness that the city government, represented by the mayor no less, truly cares for its sick people, helping them keep their hopes up.

Lacuna once headed the city’s social welfare department so that she is well-versed as to what Manila‘s various sectors need, specially those who are less-privileged, said Abante.
