THE Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) assured that the bridges designated as routes for the ‘Traslacion’ on January 9 are safe.
It was learned that the DPWH certified the safety of the Quezon Bridge, Carlos Palanca Bridge, Ayala Bridge and Arlegui Bridge.
According to the said certification issued by the DPWH–National Capital Region, the said bridges were assessed based on the 2025 Road and Bridge Inventory and Assessment of the DPWH-NCR.
The Traslacion which is joined by millions of devotees to the Black Nazarene uses the said bridges as part of the usual procession route every year.
Meanwhile, the traditional ‘Pahalik’ at the Quirino Grandstand where devotees show reverence to the Black Nazarene has already registered a crowd of 18,600 based on estimates made by the Manila Police District (MPD) as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 8.
The ‘Pahalik’ precedes the slated dawn mass at the grandstand prior to the start of the procession.
MPD spokesman PMajor Philip Ines said that no untoward incident had been reported so far, as the ‘Pahalik’ continues and crowds continue to swell as of this writing at the Quirino Grandstand.
