Driver killed, trader hurt in Batangas ambush

A BUSINESSMAN died on the spot while his driver was killed by unknown assailants along a highway Thursday morning in San Jose, Batangas.

San Jose Municipal Police Station chief Major Neil Christopher C. Gaspar identified the fatality as Virgilio Monforte Noel Jr., 40.

Injured is Milo Guce Raz, 53, businessman.

Initial investigation showed the victims were on board an Isuzu Truck loaded with eggs and were traversing the highway around 2:30 a.m., February 25, in Bgy. Banay-Banay 2nd, when the suspects on board a motorcycle appeared and shot the victims repeatedly.

Police said Monforte died on the spot while Milo was rushed to the Metro San Jose Medical Center for immediate treatment.

The suspect fled after the incident.
