Drug peddler killed in Malabon shootout

A SUSPECTED drug peddler was killed when he tried to shoot the police poseur-buyer during a buy-bust Tuesday afternoon in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Joel Villanueva said the slain suspect, identified as Arnel Rabot, 23 of 21 Atis Int.,Brgy. Potrero, was the subject of the drug sting conducted by elements of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Lt. Joseph Alcazar.

Prior to the incident, Lt. Alcazar formed a team composed of five members of SDEU to conduct a buy-bust against the suspect at around 3 p.m. in front of his house in Atis Interior.

However, when the suspect sensed that he was dealing with a police officer, he drew his .38 caliber revolver and squeezed the trigger twice but missed his target prompting operatives of SDEU, who served as back-up, to retaliate that resulted in his untimely death.

Villanueva said SDEU operatives recovered from the slain suspect a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three live ammunition and two fired shells, several pieces of drug paraphernalia and five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing undetermined quantity of shabu.
