Drug trafficker killed, 2 held in Ecija stings

SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — A suspected drug trafficker was neutralized while two others were nabbed during separate drug stings conducted by the local police here on Tuesday.

Town police head Major Joel Dela Cruz identified the slain suspect as Richard Caralde, of San Antonio, Nueva Ecija. Arrested were Elmer Pacson, 35, alias Emong, and Harvey Garcia, 35, alias Bikoy, both of Bgy. Calaba.

Dela Cruz said Caralde was shot dead when he resisted arrest and engaged undercover lawmen in a gunfight after selling illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer in Bgy. Poblacion at 7:20 p.m.

Probers recovered from the encounter site the suspect’s gray Yamaha Mio motorcycle, a cal. 45 pistol, a plastic sachet containing shabu and P1,000 in marked money.

Meanwhile, Pacson and Garcia fell in successive buy-bust operations also in Bgy. Poblacion at 4 p.m. and 5:10 p.m., said Dela Cruz.

Pacson yielded three plastic sachets with shabu and P500-marked money while anti-illegal drug operatives seized from Garcia four plastic sachets containing shabu and the P500 bill used as marked money in the operation.
