Drunk Sputnik takes cop’s gun, ends up injured and in jail

A Sputnik gang member landed in jail with injuries, after taking the gun of a Manila policeman while the latter was waiting for a passenger jeepney on Padre Burgos Street in Ermita, Manila.

Nabbed by responding operatives from the Lawton Police Community Precinct (PCP) was suspect Joshua Pineda, 44, with sustained head injuries after falling twice while escaping from PSMS Marlon C Quitalig of the Intramuros PCP in Ermita Police Station, PS-5, MPD, who was pursuing him.

Investigation showed that the suspect was drunk when the incident took place at around 8 p.m.

The cop was said to be waiting for a jeepney when the suspect suddenly appeared and took his gun. While they were wresting for possession of the gun, it went off and fortunately did not hit anyone.

This was when the suspect decided to flee and along the way, he fell twice due to drunkenness before he was finally nabbed.

A case for direct assault to an agent of authority has been filed before the Manila Prosecutors Office.
