DSWD Bicol assists TS Ferdie evacuees in Jovellar, Albay

Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5-Bicol Region assist 241 families from six barangays in Jovellar, Albay who were preemptively evacuated due to heavy rainfall caused by Severe Tropical Ferdie and the southwest monsoon or habagat.

More than Php300,000 in relief aid and modular tents were provided to the evacuees from Barangays Aurosa, Mercado, Mabini, Bagacacy, Magsaysay, and White Deer.

The DSWD Bicol Field Office will continue coordinating with the local government unit (LGU) of Jovellar to determine other interventions that the evacuees may need while at the temporary shelter and when they return to their homes.

Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) 6 – Western Visayas on Sunday (September 15) visited evacuation sites in Bago City and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental to monitor the status of displaced families affected by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm ”Ferdie.”

To ensure the needs of the evacuees, the DSWD Western Visayas is closely coordinating with the local government unit (LGU) of Negros Occidental to assess and provide necessary support.

DSWD Soccsksargen respond to flood-hit communities in Maguindanao Del Norte

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) 12 – Soccsksargen conducted a validation and assessment operations on Sunday (September 15) across flooded areas in the province of Maguindanao del Norte due to the heavy rainfall caused by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm “Ferdie.”

The operation, facilitated by the FO’s Disaster Risk and Management Division (DRMD) was closely followed by the distribution of family food packs to identified families and communities affected by the weather disturbance.

The FO 12 is actively coordinating with concerned local government units (LGUs) to provide more relief assistance to communities impacted by the effects of southwest monsoon and TS Ferdie.
