DSWD brings more relief packs closer to communities with 14 new warehouses in CALABARZON

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office-4A – CALABARZON, in partnership with local government units (LGUs), has opened 14 new warehouses across the region in 2024.

“Sa pagkakaroon ng maraming warehouses sa iba’t ibang lokasyon sa rehiyon, mas mabilis tayong nakapagpapadala ng tulong dahil mas malapit na sa mga komunidad ang ating warehouses,” DSWD FO CALABARZON Regional Resource Operation Section Head Jessie Jerusalem said on Tuesday (December 17).

Section Head Jerusalem said these warehouses serve as storage facilities of the agency for its prepositioned food and non-food items intended as augmentation support to LGUs in times of natural and human-induced calamities.

Each warehouse can accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 family food packs (FFPs) and 100 non-food items.

With the 14 new warehoused, the FO CALABARZON now operates a total of 72 storage facilities across the region.

Of the 72 facilities, five are owned and managed by the DSWD while 67 are through formalized agreements and partnerships with LGUs.

The 14 newly opened satellite warehouses support the storage facilities managed in collaboration with LGUs, which include six in Cavite, 10 in Laguna, 11 in Batangas, six in Rizal, and 34 in Quezon province.

The DSWD’s partnership with different LGUs allows the agency to strategically preposition its relief goods in a storage facility of the LGUs, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

The agreement also allows the LGUs to utilize the prepositioned relief goods during calamities in coordination with the respective DSWD FO.
