DSWD brings services to Dubai OFWs in ‘Bagong Bayani Serbisyo Caravan’

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) brings its services directly to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) during the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo Serbisyo Caravan on Sunday (August 3) at the Dubai World Trade Center in United Arab Emirates.

The DSWD catered to a total of 81 OFWs, responding to 205 service inquiries covering a wide range of programs, including the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), solo parent benefits, and the Minors Traveling Abroad (MTA) clearance.

Social workers were also present to offer psychosocial support to the OFWs, acknowledging the emotional challenges of being away from their home and loved ones. Information materials were distributed and one-on-one consultations were also available at the DSWD booth.

The DSWD was represented by Asst, Secretary Ada Colico of the Protective Services and Asst. Secretary Paul Ledesma of the Special Concerns.

Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the caravan aimed to provide immediate and accessible government services to Filipinos abroad. The caravan in Dubai is part of a global initiative that kicked off in Hong Kong in June and continued in Riyadh, Japan, and Qatar in July. (YADP)
