DSWD chief checks condition of 322 families hit by fire in Davao City

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Saturday (October 4) makes the rounds at the evacuation centers in Davao City currently sheltering the 322 families whose houses located in Barangays 21-C and 22-C went up in smoke last Thursday (October 2).

During his visit, Secretary Gatchalian oversaw the distribution of hot meals; ready to eat food (RTEF); hygiene, sleeping, family clothing, kitchen, and child-friendly kits; as well as the distribution of cash aid worth Php10,000 to each of the affected families. The DSWD chief also asked the affected locals on the other forms of assistance that they need from the government to help in their recovery.

Joining the DSWD chief in the rounds were Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) and Regional Director Roelle Aradanas of DSWD Field Office (FO) 11 – Davao Region. (AKDL)
