DSWD chief leads cash aid distribution to 900 fire-hit families in Tondo

A total of 900 families whose houses were destroyed by the recent fire in Barangay 105, Tondo, Manila received their Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday (August 9).

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian supervised the distribution at the Vicente Lim Elementary School where he assured the beneficiaries that the national and local governments, based on the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., are converging their resources to help them rebuild their lives.

Each beneficiary received Php15,109 that will help them recover from the combined impact of the August 6 fire and the successive weather disturbances that hit the country last July.

Joining the DSWD chief in the payout were Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe and Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), Director Isabel Lanada of the Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB), and National Capital Region (NCR) Assistant Director for Operations Bienvenido Barbosa Jr.

Congressman Ernesto “Ernix” Dionisio Jr. of the 1st District of Manila thanked the DSWD for their swift support to his disaster-affected constituents. (LSJ)
