In response to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen whole-of-government coordination in disaster response and recovery, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian visits Sibuyan Island in Romblon on Sunday (October 5) to personally assess the situation of residents affected by Typhoon Opong and to oversee the delivery of government assistance.

During his visit, the DSWD chief led the distribution of 115 family food packs (FFPs) and various non-food items (NFIs) to disaster-hit families in the municipality of Cajidiocan. The FFPs distribution, held at the Cambalo National High School, was in partnership with the local government as part of the President’s directive to deliver prompt aid to affected communities.
