Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian meets with Manila Vice Mayor Angel Lei Atienza on Friday (January 9) to discuss collaborative efforts for the rollout of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in Manila for 2026.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the DSWD and the Manila City government in the implementation of the livelihood program.
The proposed SLP rollout for 2026 includes the setting up of 20 SLP Associations, with 30 members, to support community-based enterprises and income-generating activities.
The initiative aims to promote economic resilience, skills development, and sustainable sources of income for beneficiary families in the City of Manila through structured partnerships.
The DSWD chief is joined by Undersecretary for Operations Monina Josefina Romualdez, Asst. Secretary for Promotive Programs Edmon Monteverde, and SLP Director Marife Leon. (KI)
