DSWD collabs with International Justice Mission for protection of kids vs online exploitation

DSWD and IJM

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian meets with the leaders of the International Justice Mission (IJM) on Wednesday (October 30) to discuss the pressing concerns on Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).

The DSWD and the IJM reassured their steadfast commitment to ensuring the welfare of Filipino children, especially those who are affected by OSAEC.

The DSWD shall further its efforts to combat OSAEC through the development of Project SAFE for OSAEC victim-survivors.

Project SAFE is aimed at strengthening the protective mechanism for the recovery and safe reintegration of OSAEC victim-survivors.

During the meeting with IJM representatives Atty. Rey Bicol, Atty. Sam Inocencio, Ms. Dolly Rubia, and Mr. Ted Romo, Secretary Gatchalian cited the importance of an intensified advocacy campaign to help break the stigma and misconceptions attached to OSAEC victim-survivors.

The DSWD chief was joined by Social Technology Bureau Director Helen Suzara and Child and Youth officer-in-charge Division Chief Darlene Dancel.
