Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Thursday (February 26) led the distribution of assistance under the DSWD’s Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program to tourism workers at the Tingub National High School Gymnasium in Mandaue City in Cebu province.
A total of 101 beneficiaries received cash aid amounting to Php959,445 to help address their immediate needs following the impact of Typhoon Tino. The payout was supervised by the DSWD’s Field Office (FO) 7- Central Visayas in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT) led by DOT Secretary Ma. Christina Frasco who provided the list of the beneficiaries from the local tourism sector.

The ECT payout is in line with the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to support displaced tourism workers in restoring their livelihoods and helping them recover after the disruption brought about by the typhoon.
Joining Secretary Gatchalian were Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of DRMG, and FO 7 Asst. Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Tonyson Luther Lee. (KI)
