The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), together with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), SaferKids PH, and member agencies of the Inter-Agency Council Against Child Pornography (IACACP), will conduct an online webinar to promote child online safety on September 22 and 24, 2021.

The webinar entitled, “Digital Safety and Wellbeing of Parents and Children: Child Online Safeguarding and Mental Wellness in Time of Pandemic”. It will showcase the salient features of the Child Online Safeguarding Policy (COSP) which provides guidelines, mechanisms, and standards for the protection of children from all harms of the internet such as child pornography, online gambling, and all forms of child online abuse and sexual exploitation.

In addition, the webinar also aims to promote collaboration among internet service providers (ISFs), telecommunications companies, and child online protection advocates of their roles and responsibilities as mandated in the COSP.

Expected participants of the online activity include grade school and junior high school students from public and private schools, teachers, youth group representatives, parents, and representatives from IACACP agencies and partners.

The DSWD hopes that, through the webinar, children, parents, and the whole society will become united in protecting children from the dangers of navigating the internet without proper supervision.

Likewise, the Department will continue to exert efforts in coordinating with concerned agencies to stop all forms of online child abuse and exploitation, especially during the pandemic.
