Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago share a light moment with passengers at the Manila North Port Passenger Terminal on Friday (June 27) as they personally handed out samples of the Department’s ready-to-eat food (RTEF) boxes.
The product sampling followed after the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the DSWD and PPA, officially kicking-off the prepositioning of RTEF in PPA-managed facilities in port areas nationwide for faster distribution to stranded passengers, as the need arises.
Secretary Gatchalian happily welcomed the positive feedback of passengers who lauded the good taste and quality of the RTEF.
The DSWD chief said the RTEF aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s thrust to provide government aid that truly brings comfort to Filipino people in times of disasters.
Also joining the event were Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG); Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) Leo Quintilla, who is also the Officer-In-Charge of the DSWD-National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB); and PPA Assistant General Manager for Operations Mark Jon Palomar.
