The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) brings its programs and services, including psychosocial support to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Osaka, Japan, during the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo Serbisyo Caravan on Sunday (July 20).
Led by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) through the Migrant Workers Office in Osaka (MWO-Osaka), the information caravan gathered various government agencies at Mindan, Osaka, to extend frontline services to OFWs in Japan.
The DSWD set up an information booth providing on-site psychosocial counseling and details on available programs and interventions that OFWs may access depending on their specific need and situation.
The DSWD’s participation supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to make government services more accessible to Filipinos, wherever they may be in the world.
Leading the DSWD team were Undersecretaries Evelyn Aribon of the Office of the Secretary (OSEC) and Edward Justine Orden of the General Administration and Support Services Group (GASSG); Asst. Secretary for Regional Operations Paul Ledesma, and Director Edwin Morata of the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP). (LSJ)
