The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was awarded the Selyo ng Kahusayan sa Serbisyo Publiko, Antas III by the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) during the online awarding ceremony on August 31, as part of the national celebration of “Buwan ng Wika.”
Dr. Arthur P. Casanova, Tagapangulo ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, said the award is given by the KWF to government agencies in recognition of their use of the Filipino language in the performance of their mandate, especially in official communications, official transactions, publications, policies, and in the development of program materials.
He stressed, “Ang inyong pagsusumikap na panatilihin at paigtingin ang paggamit ng wika ay hindi matatawaran at ito ay magiging pamana natin sa ating lahi.”
Dr. Casanova added, “Maging likas sa atin ang pagtangkilik sa ating wika bilang wika ang panukatan ng karunungan at kamalayan.”
Meanwhile, in his acceptance message, DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista said, “Ang [selyo] ay hindi lamang testamento ng pagiging tapat sa serbisyo publiko, ito rin ay pagbibigay-kahalagahan sa pundasyon ng ating pagka-Filipino. Ang paggamit ng wikang Filipino ay nagsisilbing tulay sa isang bansang multi- kultural.”
The Secretary further stressed, “Batid ng Kagawaran ang kahalagahan ng wikang Filipino sa pakikipag-ugnayan at pag-abot sa publiko, upang makapagbigay ng epektibong serbisyo sa mga kliyente nito.”
Recognizing this, the Department continues to use the Filipino language in its public service delivery, especially with its goal of providing the right and accurate program information, as well as establishing communication with the public using various platforms.
