Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Alan Tanjusay of the Peace and Development Group (PDG) on Thursday (September 25) leads the launch of the Social Case Management System (SCMS) for former members of non-state armed groups (FMNSAGs) in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula).
The SMSC is a peace and development initiative of the agency which assigns social and development workers as case managers to track the progress of former rebels and link them to various government services to ensure their smooth transition into civilian life.
Joining the PDG undersecretary in the unveiling of the SCMS at the Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City were Asst. Secretary Gina Wenceslao, Director Miramel Garcia-Laxa of the Peace and Development–Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PDBBM) National Program Management Office; DSWD Field Office 9 Regional Director Riduan Hadjimuddin; Assistant Regional Director for Operations Maria Socorro Macaso; and PDBBM Regional Program Coordinator Evelyn Lingatong.
Other key officials who showed their support to the new peace initiative were Basilan Provincial Administrator Manny Muarip and representatives from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and other partner agencies from the government and private sector.
