Household-beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Walang Gutom Program (WGP) showcased their creativity and culinary skills as they prepared nutritious dishes during the Kusinero Cook-Off Challenge (Regional Level) held at the Aguilar Sports Complex in Las Piñas City on Thursday (January 29).
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian personally checked and tasted each dish, which included dinuguang puso ng saging, calderetang tambakol, seafood pinangat, kare-kareng bangus, and tortang kalabasa with daing flakes.
The five cook-off challengers came from different barangays in Quezon City and Tondo, Manila.
The dishes were judged by Chef Marky Bartolome, Chef Regina Patricia Cojuanco-Gonzales, Chef Rolando Laudico, Connh Crus, and Rafael John Maclang.
The Kusinero Cook-Off Challenge has three stages: provincial, regional, and national level.
Also present at the cook-off challenge were NCR city mayors and representatives, Undersecretary Edu Punay and Asst. Secretary Baldr Bringas of the Innovations and Program Development Group (IPDG), Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), and Field Office NCR Asst. Regional Director for Operations Bienvenido Jr. Barbosa. (YADP)
