Duterte request for asylum in China, fake news

THE Chinese Embassy in Manila did not confirm that former President Rodrigo Duterte had sought an asylum from Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a talk with media.

Before this, the camp of Duterte branded as ‘fake news’ and lies reports that Duterte went to Hong Kong prior to his arrest to seek asylum from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Rumors had it that the former President asked protection from Pres. Xi but was turned down by the Chinese president.

Senator Ronald dela Rosa denied such rumors and said whoever fabricated the issue was peddling fake news.

It will be recalled that Duterte was arrested upon arrival at the NAIA from Hong Kong on Tuesday. Police served the arrest warrant upon the request of the Interpol by virtue of a notice issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) where the former President is facing charges for crimes against humanity.
