Ecija kagawad’s house set on fire by 4 men in car

SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija — Four unidentified car-riding men set ablaze the house of a barangay kagawad here before escaping towards unknown direction on Saturday night.

Town police head Major Rammel Ebarle saidcset ablaze at 11:10 p.m. was the house of barangay kagawad Reymundo Pascual, 58, of Purok 2, Bgy. San Jose.

Prior to the incident, two witnesses identified as Romeo Payabyab, 54, salesman and Tony Cortez, 57, a neighbor and relatives of the victim told police that the suspects, who were riding a black car approached them and borrowed a lighter.

The suspects then went to Pascual’s house and poured gasoline on it before his daughter came out and tried to stop them from burning their house.

The daughter then called out the house occupants for help but when they went outside they already saw the front portion of their house burning with the suspects fleeing.

Ebarle said the fire was put out at 11:45 p.m. resulting in damages to the front portion of the victim’s house, including some valuables damage to property was estimated at P8,000.

Ebarle said his men and the BFP are conducting a joint investigation on the incident.
