CABANATUAN CITY – A police major who was relieved and ordered transferred last July 15to Tarlac City by-then Police Regional Office 3 director and now-Director for Police Community-Relations Group Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia was reassigned to Talavera town in one of the latest waves of revamp of police chiefs implemented by the Nueva Ecija police last week.
Also affected in the reshuffle were police stations in San Jose City, Gapan City and San Antonio, said provincial police director Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro.
Saro added the latest wave of reshuffle primarily affected police heads who were already about to finish their two-year tour-of-duty in their respective assignments.
“Yung sa San Antonio mag-apply na for promotion, yung Talavera, Gapan at San Jose ay mag-two years na so regular reshuffling at to follow na rin ibang stations na mag-two years,” said Saro in a text message to the Journal Group yesterday.
Reassigned to Talavera as officer-in-charge was Major Roderick Corpuz, who replaced Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito after the latter served for nearly two years as the town’s chief of police under Mayor Nerivi Santos-Martinez.
Desamito has been reassigned as deputy provincial director for operations at the Aurora PPO, said Saro.
Saro, who was also appointed to his PD post by Sermonia last August 19, said the designation of Corpuz as an OIC was only temporary since the said the top police post requires a rank equivalent to that of a lieutenant colonel.
Corpuz was then San Antonio police chief when he was abruptly relieved from his post and re-assigned to the Tarlac City PNP by Sermonia after the former exceeded the 10-year tour-of-duty in the province.
This relief of Corpuz by the former PRO3 chief triggered the filing of an administrative case by Mayor Arvin C. Salonga against Sermonia before the Office of the Ombudsman.
In San Jose City, Saro appointed erstwhile Gapan City police head, Lt. Col. Criselda Y. De Guzman as the city’s first-ever female officer-in-charge vice Lt. Col. Heryl L. Bruno, who was re-assigned at NEPPO after serving for nearly two years during the term of City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador.
In San Antonio, assigned as OIC was Major Rammel L. Ebarle, who replaced Major Ador S. Depnag, who succeeded Corpuz after the latter’s relief by Sermonia.
Depnag, who is set to apply for promotion, was transferred to the NEPPO, said Saro.
Meanwhile, designated as Gapan City police-OIC was Lt. Col. Edelmar Alviar, former deputy provincial director for operations of NEPPO.
